Volunteer tasks may include administrative duties as well as direct care and virtual support opportunities. The following are examples of just some of the ways volunteers can be involved. Direct care tasks: *Providing respite to family members by sitting with patients so they can take care of daily tasks (respite is limited to 2 hour per visit)
*Personal visits can include reading, praying, or talking with patients or family members to provide companionship and a comforting presence *Assisting family members with light housework or running errands
Administrative tasks: *Creating welcome packets for families
*Writing notes of encouragement to caregiving staff and family members *Bereavement support volunteers reach out to family members through phone calls and handwritten cards *Volunteers with musical abilities may also be encouraged to share their talents
Volunteers are vital to the caring work of hospice. They provide a level of personal connection and support that allows the hospice team to best serve our patients and families with compassionate care.
