About: A Leadership Journey’s Ubuntu Summer Program is a 12-week Health and Wellness Program for BIPOC youth ages 11-18, that provides interactive hands-on wellness activities to promote healthier self-care routines. During the months of June, July, August, each Saturday will comprise an activity catered to self-care.
Location: Providence, RI
Start Date: Summer, June 1st, 2021
Duration: August 28th, 2021
Schedule: 5-7 hours a week, 1 hour to 1 hour 30 min a day, Monday through Friday. Please note, some weeks, you will only be asked to work 3 hours that week for only two days.
Volunteer Description:
During our Ubuntu Summer Program, you will have the opportunity to support our Program Manager with picking up program supplies, organizing them, and distributing them to youth participants. With this volunteer role, you should expect to:
● Pick up program materials on a weekly basis.
● Help organize program materials for drop-offs.
● Distribute program materials to all youth participants during Thursday and Friday of each week.
Training/Orientation:
No training for this role is needed. Orientation will consist of a one on one with the Program Manager. During this time you will be provided with a more detailed outline of the summer program and an introduction to the rest of the team.
Qualifications and Requirements:
● Must have your own form of reliable transportation. (Gas will always be provided by us)
● Must have availability Tuesday/Wednesday for pick-ups and availability Thursday and Friday for dropoffs.
Volunteer Objective:
To combat the high levels of stress, anxiety, and depression, youth experience throughout the year, and during covid, our organization has made it a priority to address these concerns and provide support services throughout the entire summer. Your support during this time period will be extremely impactful, and most of all; important. Your role may be as a volunteer, but with ALJ you are family. Join us, as we deliver another powerful summer program.

Description
Since our pivot in 2009 from a chapter of the global network "Social Venture Partners", our mission has been to incubate and support social enterprise while simultaneously fostering a nurturing social impact ecosystem. In 2015, SEG’s relocation to our co-working space at 10 Davol Square, The SEG Hub, transformed the organization into the state’s leading neutral convener in the social sector. In 2016, the decision to offer programs targeting specific industries such as Food and Health & Wellness led to a significant increase in volunteers, mentors, corporate sponsors and strategic partnerships.
Today, SEG offers a robust menu of services that provide social entrepreneurs with the services they need throughout their lifecycle. We have become a trusted convener and technical assistance provider for organizations and businesses working to achieve both economic and community impact.
