Mission Statement

Feeding the Mind, Spirit, and Body of the farm-working community and our neighbors in need, through opportunities for hunger relief, education, healthcare, and spiritual growth.

Description

Beth-El Farmworker Ministry is an ecumenical effort founded by Presbyterians in solidarity and in response to the needs of farm working families. Our mission started with a vision to provide a spiritual place where farmworkers could come together and worship. As relationships prospered with the migrant farm working community, the focus expanded to include programs to meet not only the spiritual needs of the community, but also the needs of the body and mind. This holistic approach to lift up the dignity of the farm worker, permeates throughout Beth-El's ethos and practice. And while serving the farm working community is our focus, we also serve any family suffering from food insecurity and limited access to educational and health care opportunities. Beth-El's mission is carried out through: hunger relief efforts that include food distribution at the mission and at farms, access to dental care with a monthly volunteer-lead dental clinic, educational and career development through mentoring and scholarships, and access to basic needs through case management, community partnerships, and our thrift store. Nuevo Camino at Beth-El is a Christian faith community in the Reformed tradition, and pastoral care is offered on a full-time basis by an Ordained Minister, responding to the spiritual needs of the community.
