Mission Statement
Servants At Work, Inc. (SAWs), is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all volunteer ministry. SAWs builds wheelchair ramps to provide persons with disabilities and people with conditions of aging access to their world and the freedom to remain in their communities. SAWs is an ecumenical ministry that welcomes and encompasses many churches, denominations, faiths and organizations. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and every vocation imaginable. Men and women alike help to provide freedom to those who would otherwise be trapped by everyday obstacles and financial circumstances.
Description
SAWs started as a response to a 15-year-old girl needing a wheelchair ramp in order to stay in her home. Since then, we have built over 2000 ramps across the state of Indiana and have expanded to Arizona and West Virginia.
We build ADA standard wheelchair ramps with the help of volunteers. Ramps are prefabricated prior to the ramp installation. This makes for a quick, half-day installation at the site. We seek to not only change the life of the ramp recipient but those of our volunteers. In just a few short hours, you have a finished product and can see the lasting impact for the ramp recipient. No skill is needed to join in on a ramp build. We will be happy to train you!
