Kids need Mentors now more than ever! It's rewarding, fun, and makes a BIG difference in the life of a child. Volunteer mentors meet with their assigned "Little" 2 - 4 times a month for a year. "Bigs" & "Littles" share mutually enjoyable activities of their choosing in the community setting, all while getting to know one another better. Some examples of activities are going for a hike, going to a movie, arts & crafts, learning a new skill together, attending community events or simply going for a walk and talking. Whatever your talent or interest, share it with a child! It doesn't have to be anything extravagant, sports-related, or cost money, it's simply about giving the child your time and attention. No matter your age or background - there is value in being there for a child. The volunteer Mentor serves as a listening ear and a guiding light to help their "Little" stay on track toward reaching their goals and avoid engaging in risky behaviors. Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentoring program is the leading 1-to-1 mentoring program in the nation and follows an evidence-based prevention model. Professional staff will support you throughout the duration of your match with and "Little" as well. Matches are also encouraged to attend group activities facilitated by BBBS when available (such as mini golf, pizza party, holiday party, etc). We're in this together...we know that this works and significantly helps children! Note: In response to the covid pandemic, we allow for virtual mentoring/communications as well, when in-person visits are not possible. We're happy to review the details with you if interested. Join us and be a part of something BIG!
