About Linguistics Justice League

Location:

3040 78th Ave SE, #1583, MERCER ISLAND, WA 98040, US

Mission Statement

LJL was founded to leverage technology to make languages more accessible to school-aged children. Our goal is to leverage natural language processing to translate English media to low-resource languages and vice versa, accelerating learning and increasing understanding of international cultures. Our goal is to enact long-term change. We aim to dispel the myths and stereotypes experienced by people who speak these languages as a result.

Description

Linguistics Justice League’s mission is to:

  • NLP Projects: We focus primarily on low-resource languages in our projects that other larger organizations do not prioritize. Content for youth in these low resource languages is often hard to come across and we hope to bridge the gap between higher and lower resource languages.
  • Research: We make posts on new innovations, research, and issues that relate to our non-profit and educate others.
  • Community Outreach: We hope to dispel the myths and stereotypes experienced by people who speak low-resource languages through the use of language learning and natural language processing
  • Workshops: We will perform product demos that showcase some of the key features of our products. These will be presented in interactive workshops.
