Fortitude Careers is a startup nonprofit organization lead by three women that provides a pre-apprenticeship program for underprivileged youth and young adults seeking a career in construction. Fortitude Careers seeks to provide both construction based instruction, as well as "Life Mastery Skills." The Life Mastery Skills portion of the program includes services such as social emotional learning, personal finance, leadership, career readiness, and English as a Second Language.

Our volunteers are the foundation of all Fortitude Programs. Their passion for helping people and their expertise in technology, education, and construction are the cornerstones of all our programs and initiatives.

Social Media Manager

Fortitude Careers is looking for a creative and motivated person to take up the volunteer position of social media manager. This is an entry-level position that could be ideal for a college student or recent graduate seeking experience managing social media.

The social media manager will work closely with the Program Director to develop a social media strategy involving Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn to satisfy marketing and outreach needs. Through this position, you will have the opportunity to develop a marketing campaign and help a non-profit organization use technology and social media to further their mission and goals.

This is a volunteer and remote opportunity.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintaining regular Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter posts
  • Creating engaging and interesting posts about Fortitude events and news
  • Make advertising and marketing recommendations to the leadership team

Must Haves:

  • Familiarity with social media platforms
  • Experience creating social media content for public events or businesses
  • Strong communication skills and a service oriented mindset
  • Weekly commitment of at least 5 hours.
Nice to Haves:
  • Experience with Google and Facebook Ad campaigns
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge about construction

It addresses the status of unemployed youth who have no clear path to a productive future to support their lives, families, and contribute to their communities

Description

Fortitude is a program in service to the community, in which young people learn the skills to build a career in the construction field, and have the opportunity to develop those skills by building "ADU’s" (accessory dwelling units or tiny houses). The ADU’s will be offered to municipalities (in accordance with established regulations,) to be used as housing for those experiencing homelessness and other low-income people, often serving beneficiaries from the types of communities where the participants themselves have grown up.
