Since February, 2020, we have been affected by the impact of Covid-19 , we have been barred from providing fundraising activities due to social distancing. Nonprofits primary function is to operate within the community who we depend upon for contributions and donations. It has been extremely difficult to market our services and the activities we provide to the target population( LGBTQIA). The impact has also created a barrier to opportunities that would otherwise allow us to introduce our new nonprofit to the community and its financial resources. Some of those resources have since cease to exist for the same reason, loss of business revenue due to Covid -19. We further learned that some of the regularly scheduled RFP (Request for proposals) have eliminated some of their rounds of giving which were previously available to nonprofits to apply for funds. Although social distancing is a mandate, funding is still needed to provide the services that we have continued to make available to the community.

For example, we are in our infancy stage of receiving individuals into our business to perform intakes and assessments, to determine what the individual client need is, based on basic needs, mental health, drug/alcohol, homelessness, housing assistance, health related needs....all of which we can either serve and/or make referrals. We are in the midst of securing property for which to use as our headquarters to enable our business to be marketed in New York City. Primarily we wanted to initiate our services for at least 3-5 days a week with some Saturdays.

Our goal is to seek funding initially to secure revenue for operating space and basic daily operating needs (rent, utilities, office furniture, to list a few ).

Open Rainbow Residence (ORR) is a nonprofit organization with a 501c3 federally tax exempt status with a primary location in New York, New York. It was established in 2018, in New York City. ORR's vision for this agency is that the LGBTQ population receives the same valuable and quality services, on a human and social service level, as any other individual. The gap in services is wide and continues to exist even in the 20 th century. The goal of ORR is to remove those gaps and replace them with the non-discriminating factors that continue to create barriers for individuals who choose a different way of living. Although discrimination will always be a part of the world, it does not have to be a part of the way any person chooses to live his or her daily life.

Open Rainbow Residence mission is to provides supportive housing options to adult members 21 & up of the LGBTQIA community by offering a safe and stable environment along with guidance. We prepare our residents to shape a future characterized by hope, self confidence, dignity and purpose.
