Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Uhuru Furniture. We are a non profit whose goal is to create economic independence in the black community.
We are looking for someone with a creative eye who wants to be a part of the process of creating a line of African designs on furniture.
NZO is a Kikongo word meaning 'Home'. We realized that all furniture can be identified as either European or Asian but there really isn't anything that identifies as African. With that, we are adding a touch of Africa on some of our furniture by creating beautiful and affordable African style furniture, accessories and home décor. NZO products include furniture hand painted with African designs and upholstered with African fabrics.
The job will require 2-4 hours/week. Can either be remote or in person. The successful volunteer will work with the NZO team to prepare the plan for our volunteer painting workshops. Someone with art skills and experience is preferred.

Description
Uhuru Furniture and Collectibles is a non-profit store that is a fundraiser for black community empowerment programs of APEDF. We receive a truck load of donated furniture and household items every day. This is a lively, popular Grand Lake area store staffed mostly by volunteers. When you volunteer at Uhuru Furniture, you not only contribute to the success of the store, you become part of a larger movement for peace through social justice. People shop at Uhuru Furniture for low priced, top quality items and to support crucial programs for social justice for African people.
