The Summer Program operates from July 6th to August 12th 2021. Programming is hosted Monday to Thursday typically in the afternoon and evenings at all of our tutoring centers.

Programming will be primarily online this Summer for our volunteers. There may be opportunities for distanced outdoor gatherings for tutors that are comfortable or interested in supporting. These distanced opportunities are not required.

Qualifications:

  1. Age 14 years or older
  2. High School Diploma or current High School students
  3. Knowledge of basic reading, writing, and math skills
  4. Ability to work with youth in a respectful and caring manner.
  5. Effective communication and patience.
  6. Proficiency in written and spoken English

  • An orientation is provided prior to your placement and scheduling for sessions. Free tutor trainings are offered to improve your skills.
  • Work with staff and other motivated volunteers in a group setting.
  • Volunteers are also asked to review the Seattle Tutor Coalition New Tutor Training.

VOLUNTEER NOW

The Youth Tutoring Program (YTP) is an after-school educational enrichment program for vulnerable first through twelfth-grade students who live in six low- and mixed-income housing communities in Seattle. Started as a partnership with the Seattle Housing Authority in 1991, the tutoring centers provide youth with a safe, positive, and stimulating environment to explore learning and experience academic and personal success.
