ORGANIZATION: FOOD FOR THE CURE

Image_202102160511

Our mission is to create programs that teach people how organic food may improve our health and to give free organic food to cancer patients in the Kansas City Metro Area.

Food for the Cure runs on 100% on volunteers and donations and we need your help to get the word out to Kansas City that we exist and need their help to expand our program so we can feed more and more Cancer Patients. We currently grow on a tiny 48'x30' plot that delivers around 400 pounds of food. We gave that to 13 people/families last year. Food for the Cure needs to gather more donations to expand our growing land and buy garden supplies as needed. With that we need a committee of people like yourself to come up with ideas to work with our community and achieve our goals to feed our cancer patients healthy organic foods.

Mission Statement

Description

Here at Food for the Cure we are a small non profit with a huge heart. We currently grow an organic style garden at the organic community garden located at the St. Peter and All Saint Episcopal Church (located in the Red Bridge Area) every year. We take all the organic produce that we grow and give it to Cancer Patients that would like to have it to help in their battle with cancer completely free of charge. In 2020 we were able to give 220 pounds of food to 7 Cancer Patients. In 2021 we were allowed to expand to 2 whole plots. That will measure a whopping 48'x30'. We run on 100 percent volunteers and now more than ever we need your help with the garden. So please signup and volunteer today! With the power of Community we can.
