Interested in supporting our refugee staff? MRC is starting our next session and we need ESL teachers!

This opportunity is IN-PERSON at our farm in Elgin. You would be teaching English to our farmers

Time Commitment: The total volunteer time is 2 days a week, for an average of about 5 hours per week. 12-week minimum commitment. Lesson planning and attending workshops/meetings are also expected.

Please choose TWO of the following time slots that work for you:

  • Wednesdays from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
  • Thursdays 12:30 pm-1:30pm
  • Fridays from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.

MRC blends skills-based education with social entrepreneurship to connect refugees to dignified, fair-wage work in Austin. We operate a commercial farm and sewing studio.

Open Arms Studio is a textile manufacturer employing refugees at a fair wage in Austin, Texas, through advanced sewing training and fair-wage employment. New Leaf Agriculture connects refugee families to the land, both by matching them to community garden plots and employing skilled farmers at our local commercial farm.
