We are seeking 1 dynamic and motivated grant writer to join our growing fundraising committee! We need a creative, detail-oriented and passionate person who is not afraid to connect, build relationships, and make the ask.

Purpose of the role:

To help raise the remaining start-up funds Maker District needs to open the facility for the community. Much of the start-up funds for this organization will come from grants.

Have you got the following skills & experience?

 A professional and friendly telephone manner;
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
 Ability to work on own initiative;
 Previous grant writing experience;
 Commitment to work in compliance with policies and procedures.

What will the role of a grant writer involve?

You will be a member of the Maker District Fundraising Committee and, working with other Committee members, you will be:

 Assemble/submit grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentation

 Conduct prospect research

 Collaborating and helping to develop community fundraising and awareness events;

 Other fundraising duties as needed

What will we expect from you?

 Commit to actively volunteering with us for at least 6 months (if reference or letter of recommendation is needed from us);
 Perform your volunteering role to the best of your ability;
 Maintain the confidential information of the organization and of its users;
 Read and comply with Maker District’s policies, procedures and guidelines;
 Attend any meetings/training relevant to your role;
 Act in a professional way whenever you represent Maker District;
 Raise any concerns at the earliest opportunity;
 Give us as much notice as possible should you be unable to attend or carry out your volunteer role with us anymore.

Maker District is a 32,000 sq.ft. makerspace, STEAM space and small business incubator coming to Grapevine, TX this year.

Maker District is first and foremost a makerspace and small business incubator, open to the entire creative community. As a community makerspace, our goal is to serve the traditional hobbyist, tinkerer, maker, inventor, dreamer, and entrepreneur - but also to reach far beyond that to help a greater part of our community that needs a space like this.

Our Founder’s vision for this organization and facility includes targeted programming for kids/at-risk youth, veterans, men/women/families in crisis, and the homeless. She believes fully, that equipped with the right tools, training, guidance and structure, having access to a facility like ours will offer a life changing opportunity, giving these individuals the chance to create their dreams.
