Visit-A-Bit (VAB) is a weekly socialization program that connects volunteers with seniors who may be living alone or in a senior community to develop meaningful relationships. A Visiting Volunteer provides a form of companionship for an assigned senior in our VAB program who may be experiencing loneliness. Visit your senior once a week for 1-2 hours while providing an outlet for conversation, bonding and rapport building.

  • Visit your senior one day a week and at the end of your visit schedule your next visit.
  • Provide phone calls to the Senior, if assigned.
  • Call the VAB Manager with any issues, concerns or question before and after each visit.
  • Be a companion to your Senior and refer to your training manual if you have questions.
  • Must be respectful, gentle, kind and non-judgmental.

Description

VNA is a non profit organization and a member of the United Way with a certified volunteer program. Visiting Nurse Association seeks to improve the quality of life for those patients with a life limiting illness for whom the goal is comfort rather than cure thru their hospice division. VNA also provides palliative care -Advanced Illness Management to patients with difficulty leaving home due to serious chronic illness. VNA also provides Care at home through private duty services-VNA CAre at Home.
