Pumpkin Patch and Apple Picking Event.

U-pick and Farm Stand volunteers will manage the collection of contact information, release of liability forms and photography consent, help set up, manage parking, check tickets, sell food items, remain on site throughout the duration of the event and provide supplemental field experiences.

The intention is to give families safe, affordable access to fresh, organic produce, a special outdoor space to interact with where food comes from, nature and each other, cultivating physical, mental and emotional health during these challenging times.

This event is rain or shine. Make sure to dress accordingly - layer, hats, sunblock. All ticket sales benefit on-farm educational programs for the youth of the Pajaro Valley.

Due to COVID and general parking concerns we need to limit the number of people on the farm at one time, so there will be two time slots of three hours each to choose from on Saturday and Sunday - at 9 am and 12:30 pm.

All ticket proceeds go to benefit Farm Discovery, the Live Earth farm non-profit food education program.

The Farm Stand will be open both days and well-stocked for all extra produce needs.

We will have TWO Event slots, TWICE a day, each day. The event is from 10 am- 3:30 pm ON Oct. 23-24.
The Parking and Check- In & Food Service/ Sales positions FOR VOLUNTEERS ARE : 9 am-12:00 pm, or 12:00-3:30 pm.

Mission Statement

Farm Discovery at Live Earth is a nonprofit organization working in the Pajaro Valley community to empower youth and families to build and sustain healthy food, farming, social and natural systems. Our home, Live Earth Farm, is a 150 acre patchwork of working organic farm, riparian corridor, oak and redwood forest in the Pajaro Valley of Santa Cruz County, California. Discovery Docents are needed to help lead groups of students through our organic farm education activities Mondays and Fridays 8:30-12:30 during the school year. Special Events Volunteers table and lead activities at community events throughout the year.

Description

We believe that we can transform personal and community health and improve our impact on earth by building and sustaining collaborative agricultural, ecological and social systems. We believe that communities equipped with knowledge and the skills of inquiry can transform food, farming and natural systems for the better.

* Farm Discovery offers educational programs that inspire youth and families to transform their relationship to food, farming and nature.
* We steward our working farm and its wild spaces as an environmentally and economically viable piece of the food system and a learning space.
* We grow and deliver nutritious, organic food with students for community members most in need - seniors, veterans, foster youth, farmworkers and more * We collaborate with community partners to learn from each other and extend our collective impact in the community.
