The Girls Link Up Youth Pitch Competition is a virtual pitch contest for girls in Georgia in grades 6 - 12. The purpose of this competition is to extend opportunities for young female entrepreneurs to access the funding and capital needed to nourish their budding businesses. Our goal is to create a bridge in funding to improve the quality of life for the next generation of young women and girls of color. Through this initiative we are looking for a diverse group of investors, expert mentors and judges to help youth solve or promote a specific aspect, teach specific entrepreneurship skills and/or provide mentorship .

The event will be a fun-filled experience hosted on a virtual platform that will engage the audience with one-to-one networking, games, breakout sessions, and of course the pitch competitions!

Here is what we need:1.) Application Reviewers - Virtually review candidate submissions using judging criteria on August 29, 2021 at 6:30pm. This is a 2 hour virtual commitment. 2.) Professional Mentors: As a business mentor you would be committed to support one girl as she works to prepare to pitch her business to judges at the event on June 12, 2021. Mentors will be trained and paired with youth based on a self-assessment completed in the application. This is a 8-10 hour commitment from May 15 - June 12. Additional information will be provided during our mentor orientation on Thursday, April 29, 2021. How to get started: Step 1: Complete Volunteer Application here. Step 2: Background Check - Because we are working with youth virtually, we would require a Background Check ($18 donation) Order Here if this is your first time working with our organization as a mentor. Once we receive your background checks, we will send you calendar invites to our volunteer orientation. Important Dates: Orientation & Application Review - Thursday, April 29, 2021 - 6:30pm Mentor Matching Meeting - Saturday, May 15, 2021 - 11:00am Event Date - Saturday, June 12, 2021 via Hop-In 11:00am - 2:00pm

Mission Statement

The mission of 3D Girls, Inc. is to educate and empower young women to be advocates for themselves and their families through mentoring, prenatal and parent education, and social/emotional wellness. Our work is grounded in addressing the critical disparities that limit young women the access of educational tools, financial empowerment, and health resources that are needed to thrive.

Description

3D Girls, Inc. began in the summer of 2012. After becoming a young mother, our founder was inspired by the mentors, teachers, and leaders who helped her accomplish her goals, and had a vision of giving back by providing mentorship opportunities to youth. Beginning with a mentorship program for eight girls, our founder and volunteers provided a variety of educational and cultural experiences. Upon graduating, many of the girls went on to college, joined the military, and/or got jobs to support their families.

Since our inception, 3D Girls, Inc. has mobilized on the ground to distribute over 200,000 diapers, wipes, blankets, and other essential baby care items to over 250 mothers, hosted over 75 sessions bringing awareness to social and emotional wellness through creativity and exploration, and have 40 mentors that educate, empower, and advocate for 132 girls participating in our after-school programs.

In 2021, we plan to launch The Rose House, which will provide a continuum of care for women and their children through transitional housing, coaching, and engagement, with a specific focus on school-aged mothers who are facing chronic homelessness, have a lack of social and emotional support or are transitioning out of DFACs Care.
