About Future and a Hope Children of Uganda

Location:

513 Patterson Street, Bowie, TX 76230, US

Mission Statement

There are so many children in Uganda that are hurting, poor, sick, and handicapped. These are the vulnerable children. The heart of Future & a Hope Uganda is to care for these vulnerable children, primarily in the villages of rural Uganda, through the promotion of missionary and benevolence causes, coordination of medical camps to bring volunteer doctors and nurses to assist in the care of the sick and those with disabilities, building of schools, and teaching families to provide self-supporting ways of income generation for school fees and other basic needs.

Description

Steven & Elisabeth, a husband and wife team, blessed with a special needs child of their own, have eyes and hearts opened to others with similar needs. God having stirred in Steven a desire for Uganda and Elisabeth a native, made the location an obvious choice. Their research quickly revealed that though other organizations are doing good things in Uganda, there is a gap for these vulnerable children, especially in the remote areas of the country.

These children are precious in the sight of God and stir compassion in Steven and Elisabeth. By organizing groups, education of families and caregivers, advocacy with the power of numbers and FHCU’s partners, these vulnerable children are given a fighting chance to thrive. They are hoping in the near future to create handicap access in existing schools and playgrounds, organize medical checkup camps and build schools and clinics in remote areas where none exist today.

With focus on the family as a whole, and not just the child, the goal is to bring empowerment that will in-turn enable these vulnerable children to flourish. Their wish is to build an enabling environment and support system within these special needs families that carries into their neighborhoods and communities.

The desire of Steven and Elisabeth is to engage and work with Ugandan families with special needs children as well as bring short and long term missionaries from around the world to carry out the work.
