Do you have past cashier experience and want a great way to engage with community members while supporting a great cause and making a significant impact? Please consider joining our dedicated team.

Monarch Thrift Shop is a not-for-profit social enterprise in Chicago, IL. We have a brick and mortar store in the Avondale neighborhood. Monarch Thrift Shop provides job training for individuals facing barriers to employment .

Availability: one or more shifts per week in the following time frames: Thursdays 10:30am-5:30pm, Fridays, 10:30am-6:30pm, Saturdays 10:30am-5:30pm, Sundays 12:30-4:30pm.

Qualifications

• Enjoy interacting with people from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds
• Previous money/cashier experience with references
• Strong communication skills in English; Spanish or Polish also helpful but not required
• 16 years of age or older
• Able to maintain a calm demeanor and work accurately in busy moments

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Record sales in the cash register system. (Shopify POS system training provided)
• Understand and apply store discounts appropriately
• Accept payment for purchases and give accurate change for cash purchases.
• Provide friendly and courteous customer service.
• Greet customers and answer customer questions; attentive to customers needs.
• Organize/straighten display shelves and clothing racks during slower periods.
• Hang clothing as requested.
• Responsible for reconciling the cash drawer at shift-end.
