Volunteer Role Description
Title: Social Media Coordinator
Summary: The Social Media Coordinator acts in the best interests of Safe Place via social media, by strengthening and leveraging our social media platforms, facebook, Linked In and Instagram and others as recommended. This volunteer abides by and actively supports the mission and values of Safe Place for Pets. They will be supervised by the Board Chair. This volunteer must have access to a computer with Microsoft Office (including Access), e-mail, and a printer. This volunteer must have access to a telephone which will be used in supporting this role and connecting with Safe Place for Pets volunteers.
Tasks include:● Communicate with the Leadership Team regarding social media strategies
● Work with a team of volunteers to post content to chosen social media carriers (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
● Set up accounts with social media outlets not currently in use, if/as determined to be of value
● Identify and obtain new partners through social media (mutual benefit, monetary gain, and/or
volunteers gained)
● Respond to all comments/questions on social media sites in a timely manner (Within 48 hours)
● Post and cross-post with pet partners to show support
● Institute special attention for pets as requested by the Placement Team
● Coordinate with the Placement Team to reach out to adopters for success stories to post on social
media (including pictures). Post while respecting the privacy of the adopters (no names)
● Work with all teams for stories/pictures/video to advertise pets, fosters, volunteers, etc.
● Post pet write ups from Placement intakes on social media within 24 hours of receiving intake write
up on new pet
● Post all events on social media, use calendar, and invite mechanisms available
● Identify and use our "voice" to reflect on the special work we do and how it differs from other local
rescues (the niche of our mission, and the time and attention we devote to our pets)
● Turn all hours worked into Volunteer Coordinator. An email will be sent monthly asking for hours.

Safe Place is an organization located in Colorado Springs, CO that cares for pets when a terminally ill owner no longer can. Safe Place was incorporated in 1996 and serves people and the pets in El Paso and Teller counties. We strive to provide comfort to families. Our unique expertise is a vital tool in assuring that a beloved pet will continue to be safe and loved, even beyond the owner's life. To some it is what matters most.
