VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION
BACKGROUND AND PROGRAM SCOPE
Neighborhood House (NH) builds community and increases access to housing, health, education, and economic opportunity. We envision a healthy, diverse, and welcoming community, free of poverty and racism, where all people thrive. As a human services agency, we run a variety of programs in King County in the realm of early childhood education, youth development, adult education and employment, housing stability, community health, and aging and disability services.
We are looking for assistance with designing a set of digital and print materials that demonstrate our values around diversity, equity, and inclusion. Example of design projects this role will work on include creating an NH LGBTQ+ pride logo and "All Are Welcome" signage for our sites.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Create visually appealing designs such as logos, flyers, posters, and other signage for both internal and external usage.
Adhere to existing agency brand standards, which will be provided.
Collaborate with staff to present ideas, seek feedback, make revisions, and help coordinate any print spec issues as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud products.
Experience designing and developing branded materials.
Commitment to social justice and creating welcoming, supporting, and affirming spaces.
Experience working for or designing for non-profits a plus.

TIME COMMITMENT
Hours are flexible but the volunteer must be able to have occasional virtual meetings during regular office hours and be able to meet hard deadlines for some projects.

We provide free services that are culturally and linguistically relevant to immigrants, refugees, public housing residents, and low-income community members in King County. Neighborhood House was founded in Seattle by the National Council of Jewish Women in 1906, and for 114 years has fought to end the cycles of poverty, racism, and social inequities.
We want to lift children out of poverty. We want them to be healthy and ready to be successful in school and life. We want these children grow up in safe and supportive homes and neighborhoods.
We want to lift families out of poverty by creating opportunities for economic self-sufficiency and asset building.
We want seniors to live healthy, independent lives with respect and dignity, surrounded by friends and a supportive community.
We want to build strong and vibrant communities where everyone feels an attachment to their neighbors and neighborhood, where they work together to solve problems and celebrate their cultural diversity.
And finally, we want to create a greener, more sustainable community where low income families live in neighborhoods that are free of pollution and buffered from rising energy costs.
