Imagine being terminally ill and trying to have a quality life. Volunteers make a huge difference in the lives of our patients and their families through personal visits, phone calls, running errands, sharing hobbies and interests, reminiscing, visiting with a pet therapy animal, swapping military stories, sharing music or aromatherapy, and just being there to spend time with a patient for companionship and/or caregiver relief. Hospice volunteers are not medical persons but they are specially trained individuals who are honored to be involved with a patient during his/her end-of-life journey on a friendly basis. They have compassion, caring hearts, a dedication and desire to "give back," and the time to do it--even as little as three to four hours per week.
Once interviewed and trained, opportunities to visit patients can take you to Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, Phoenix, Tempe, Chandler, Ahwatukee, Maricopa, Sun Lakes, Gilbert, Tempe, Mesa, San Tan Valley, and Gold Canyon--basically all of East Valley and a bit of Phoenix as well. Somewhere in that list is a city or two that are likely to be convenient for you to volunteer!
Special program needs at this time - pet therapy, music therapy, licensed hair stylist, fluently bilingual, and military veterans, but we are receptive to anyone wishing to volunteer with East Valley Hospice.
If patient visits are not your ideal volunteer opportunity, you can still become involved with East Valley Hospice for special events, office support, and community liaison to name a few.
Our teams are pre-screened for COVID-19 every single day-prior to the start of any patient visits or reporting to work in any capacity. We provide PPE for our volunteers who will come in direct contact with patients.
Are you ready to join a dynamic team of volunteers?! Please contact Nicole at 480-895-5434 for an interview, thank you!
