Global Roots is a farming program of Lutheran Family Services that supports refugee and New American farmers in gaining access to land, growing their cultural crops, and accessing on-going technical farming support. We have three community farm locations.
- Duties include:
- Planting,
- weeding,
- harvesting,
- maintaining gardens,
- watering,
- cleaning and more.
- Covid Safety:
- All work is outdoors.
- Social distanced.
- Masks required.
- Expectations:
- Must complete training before participating.
- Wear appropriate clothing for the weather +closed toe shoes.
- Assist the growers and not complete tasks for them.
- Requirements:
- Must have an understanding of cultural and religious differences and boundaries.
- Understanding of and ability to work with persons of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Commitment to the mission of Lutheran Family Services.
- Bring gloves, rakes, pruners/clippers if you have them.
- Must be flexible in case of inclement weather.

- Orientation or Training
- Minimum of 2 hours, weekly throughout the season. Season is from March through October.
- Must be able to transport self to the farms. Must sign a release and liability waiver and complete training.
