Helps register clients into our food pantry database. The volunteer in this position should be tech-savvy enough to successfully enter client’s data into our database. We’re looking for a kind, empathic and patient volunteers since they will be providing information to clients in need of resources.
Tasks include:
- Basic client interview and data collection-- entering clients' data info into our database and scheduling them for their food pantry appointments, and updating client info in Plentiful (we will train you).
- Greet all customers with empathy, fostering a positive experience.
- Answer customer questions, requests, and problem-solve together.
- Keep all shelves organized, clean, well-stocked, and properly rotated.
- Assist food pantry staff by bagging cans, fresh produce, and other food items
- Heavy lifting- Ability to lift 10 lbs up to 50 lbs, preferred but not required
Shifts in BROOKLYN URGENT NEED
Friday from 8 am to 2 pm (we can be somewhat flexible with the schedule)

MRNY has centers in Bushwick, Brooklyn ; Jackson Heights, Queens ; Port Richmond, Staten Island ; and Brentwood, Long Island , a nd our membership also draws from the surrounding neighborhoods of Bedford-Stuyvesant, East New York, Ridgewood, Woodside, Elmhurst, Corona, Central Islip, and Patchogue. Our advocacy and litigation work affect millions of other low-income and immigrant New Yorkers on the citywide level and increasingly at the state level.
