Uhuru Furniture has an outreach program perfect for high school students who are looking for volunteer hours. Groups of 5, 10, or 15 students can come together and go out and do outreach in a predetermined area. It's a simple and a fun way to spend 3 - 4 hours of your weekend to advance a great cause!
All volunteer opportunities fall within our safety protocols, ensuring masks and hand sanitizer are used and that social distancing is followed, for everyone’s safety.
Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles is an economic development project of the African People’s Education and Defense Fund (APEDF). APEDF strives to develop and institutionalize programs to defend the human and civil rights of the African community and the address the grave disparities in education, health, health care and economic development faced by the African community.

Description
Uhuru Furniture and Collectibles is a non-profit store that is a fundraiser for black community empowerment programs of APEDF. We receive a truck load of donated furniture and household items every day. This is a lively, popular Grand Lake area store staffed mostly by volunteers. When you volunteer at Uhuru Furniture, you not only contribute to the success of the store, you become part of a larger movement for peace through social justice. People shop at Uhuru Furniture for low priced, top quality items and to support crucial programs for social justice for African people.
