Think you were recently exposed to COVID-19? Join our COVID-19 Diagnostics research study at Northwestern University to receive testing.

Your participation will also contribute to cutting edge research by helping us develop better COVID-19 tests. We are comparing new types of COVID-19 tests to find out which are most accurate, quick, and easy to use. As an added bonus, you may be eligible to get paid for your participation.

An independent committee responsible for protecting the rights and well-being of study participants has reviewed and approved our research study. All COVID-19 tests used in the study meet safety standards, and protecting the health of study participants is our top priority.

High-risk people possibly exposed to COVID-19 in the last 7 days are highly encouraged to join our study, but anyone can fill out our survey to find out if they’re eligible to join!

If you are interested in participating, please click the link below to fill out our survey found at the bottom of our home page. Your responses are voluntary and private.

If you have any specific worries or questions about being in the "Test Us" COVID-19 Diagnostics Research Study, please visit the FAQ section of our website or contact our team at

About Northwestern University SCAN Study

420 E Superior St., Chicago, IL 60611, US

Mission Statement

Screening for Coronavirus Antibodies in Neighborhoods (SCAN) is a research study with the aim of learning how different neighborhoods throughout Chicago are affected by COVID-19 by looking for virus antibodies in blood samples from Chicago residents. Our goal is to analyze thousands of blood samples to better understand how individuals, households, and entire neighborhoods have been exposed to COVID-19.

Equal representation among neighborhoods and participant demographics is critical, so the SCAN study team is reaching out to community-based organizations around Chicago for help in recruiting participants.

Anyone who is interested in participating in the study can visit and complete the sign-up survey. After completing the sign-up survey, you will be informed if you are selected to take part in the study.

Participants will be mailed a free at-home antibody test kit that they will mail back to us using prepaid postage and will be able to view their results online.
