Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles sells good quality, donated, used furniture and collectibles at reasonable prices.

Are you computer savvy and a quick learner? Fast on your feet and enjoy staying busy? Then we are looking for YOU!

Our amazing sales team needs your help! We have a new point of sale system that requires daily updates to its inventory. We're looking for a Sales Assistant Intern who is interested in learning inventory management, customer service and more!

We are open to the public Wed - Sun and looking for help between the hours of 10 - 6:30 pm. 20 hours per week would be ideal.

You will gain experience with challenging tasks, work with people from all walks of life, meet like-minded people interested in social justice and gain a valuable reference for future employment.

Mission Statement

The African People's Education and Defense Fund strives to develop and institutionalize programs to defend the human and civil rights of the African community and to address the grave disparities in education, health, healthcare and economic development of the African community.


Uhuru Furniture and Collectibles is a non-profit store that is a fundraiser for black community empowerment programs of APEDF. We receive a truck load of donated furniture and household items every day. This is a lively, popular Grand Lake area store staffed mostly by volunteers. When you volunteer at Uhuru Furniture, you not only contribute to the success of the store, you become part of a larger movement for peace through social justice. People shop at Uhuru Furniture for low priced, top quality items and to support crucial programs for social justice for African people.
