Public Relations and Social Media Assistant Director

This position is part of the Public Relations and Social Media Committee which is led by the PR Director for Doing Good.

Job Description : Manage the Public Relations (PR) and Social Media Committees. The primary activity of the Public Relations (PR) Committee is the media, and the primary activity of the Social Media Committee is the Doing Good social media platforms. They meet jointly to strategize and implement Doing Good public relations efforts.

Mentorship Opportunity : The Director and Assistant Director of each department work closely together to oversee, manage, and strategize the direction and plans for the departments and for Doing Good. Both think strategically and act in complementary ways toward the same goals.

Time Involved : 4-5 hours/month.

Responsibilities

Best for those who have especially enjoyed and successfully held long-term volunteer roles and are interested in a leadership position. Prior experience in project management and/or people management is preferred.

  • Partner closely with the PR and Social Media Director to strategize the direction and plans for the committees.
  • Manage the PR and Social Media committees. Run joint committee meetings. Keep everyone on task and on track between meetings as needed.
  • Lead and participate in the monthly committee meeting held via Zoom.
  • Participate in periodic leadership development opportunities.
  • Partner with Doing Good committees and volunteers.
  • Use Google Drive, Trello and Zoom.
  • Beginning January of 2023, Assistant Directors across Doing Good will form its Junior Board.
    • Learn fundamentals of serving on a nonprofit board.
    • Meet every 6 weeks.
    • $50/year donation is requested.

Requirements

  • Passion for and understanding of public relations, social media, traditional media, human interest stories, volunteers and/or volunteerism.
  • Doing Good respectfully requests each of its volunteers to live in the United States of America
