Grant Writer Job Responsibilities:

· Prepares proposals by determining concept, gathering, and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals.

· Determines proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, studying requests for proposal (RFPs), and attending strategy meetings.

· Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering writing, review, approval, and transmittal.

· Coordinates requirements with contributors and contributes proposal status information to review meetings.

· Gathers proposal information by identifying sources of information, coordinating submissions and collections, and identifying and communicating risks associated with proposals.

· Develops proposal by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation.

· Writes, revises, and edits drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials.

· Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases.

· Improves proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplate.

· Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

· Identifying grant funding opportunities.

· Writing, submitting, and managing grant proposals.

· Furnishing prospective funders with supporting documents.

Work Hours: Part time, Full time

Location: Remote

Salary: Non salaried and commission based. Grant writer will keep 10% of the total amount per grant that is funded for the center. There is no cap to this amount of earnings.

Grant Writer Qualifications / Skills:

· Presentation skills

· Written communication

· Technical documentation

· Layout skills

· Problem solving

· Deadline-oriented

Education, Experience, and Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Media, or related field.

· Minimum of 2-years experience in grant writing.

· Able to meet deadlines.

· Reliable internet and quiet place to work remotely.

· Able to meet with the Executive Director virtually at least once a week and more often depending on the project. She lives in California so the meetings would be on Pacific Standard Time.

· Proficient with measuring and reaching income goals.

· Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel.

· Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written

· Excellent organizational skills

A 100% volunteer-run nonprofit organization, the Cancer Coping Center constitutes a group of professionals who volunteer their time and expertise in order to relieve the suffering of those afflicted with cancer by providing coping strategies for cancer patients, their family members and caregivers. It is all about taking action and not thinking that someone else will take care of the matter. We live socially responsible lives and can look back and be proud of helping others during difficult times.
