Advanced Hospice is having a volunteer training on May 20th for those who are interested in serving through companionship and comfort for patients and their families throughout the duration of their time on hospice. Volunteers provide non-medical services and respite time for caregivers and family members. Volunteers also bridge the gaps of loneliness to patients experiencing social isolation due to their pending illness and COVID 19 restrictions. Volunteering for hospice is as flexible as you need it to be to fit your busy schedule.
Direct patient volunteers can help by running errands for patients and families, playing games or reading with patients, walking and caring for family pets, or even creating a photo album of the patient and their family.
Indirect volunteers can help by utilizing your organizational talents to help with fundraising activities, outreach & administrative tasks in the office.
Training topics will include hospice philosophy, medical approaches used, spiritual and bereavement interventions, psychosocial interventions as well as volunteers role, responsibilities, role play activities & scenarios and more. This training is designed to equip you with all the tools you’ll need to be successful in your volunteer role. Above all, you will feel part of the treatment team & feel the rewards of participating in such a sacred time in someone’s life.
If you are interested in attending this training please sign up by contacting the number listed, or by sending an email.
