We are seeking Volunteer Portuguese Start Up Coordinators to set up executive committees, register AHO with authorities and manage the development of AHO and delivery of its mission in Portugal:
Main Responsibilities
- Start-up and register Africa Health Organisation (AHO) in Portugal.
- Set up a diverse Executive Committee to sit on the Board. At least one must be doctor or a Nurse or public health consultant.
- Write up the constitution of AHO specific to Portuguese legislation.
- Register AHO with government and local authorities in Portugal.
- Developing relations with key donors in Portugal and expanding the funding base
- Raise funds for AHO in Portugal for our projects in health and social care in Africa.
- Work with Portuguese government and convince them to fund AHO programmes in Africa.
- Ensuring positive working relationships with all partners and stakeholders (government ministries, communities, business, NGOs, etc.);
- Promote AHO and its work to the people in Portugal and encourage them to participate in addressing health issues in Africa.
- Arrange medical exchange programmes between Portugal and Africa such as medical students, doctors, nurses, volunteers.
- Ensure partnership agreements and MOUs are properly prepared, monitored and implemented throughout their timeframe.
Person specification
Prior experience - essential
- Qualification in any subject preferably Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, Health, Science, Social Sciences, etc.
- Experience managing organisations.
- Be a Portuguese citizen.
- A strong commitment to the aims, objectives and values of AHO.
- Well established and practiced organizational and planning skills; extensive knowledge and experience of charity start-up, registration and governance.
