  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 4 people are interested

Looking for people who are experienced in gardening and landscaping to help upkeep the gardens and greenhouses around the sanctuary. Tasks may include but are not limited to weeding, watering, and digging. After training with our greenthumb supervisor, you will be expected to work independently.

We are an animal sanctuary, so you will need to be able to work around animals. You will mostly be around the chickens and ducks but occasionally larger animals such as pigs, goats, and donkeys.

People who are experienced in identifying plants of any age or size are preferred.

This opportunity is for both women and men, as we also have chores such as weed whacking, brush cutting, and chainsawing.

Mission Statement

West Place Animal Sanctuary rescues farm animals from abuse, neglect, and cruelty and provides them with a permanent home and lifelong care. We rehabilitate sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife in Rhode Island and release healthy animals back into their natural habitats. We also operate the lost dog shelter for the towns of Tiverton and Little Compton. Through our humane education programs, West Place educates the public, offers hands-on educational experiences through our immersive student internships, and cultivates a more compassionate community.
