Volunteer to be a friend to Jeff, an adult with disabilties who is waiting to be matched in the Friend 2 Friend Adults with Disabilties Program. Jeff is a 56 year old Caucasian male who wants a friend to join JBBBS’ one Wednesday evening a month MAGIC program (Matched Activity Group in the Community) where volunteers get matched with an adult with disabilities for an agency organized group event. Jeff lives in a group home and two of the other residents have been part of MAGIC for years - Jeff wants to join the fun!

Jeff enjoys eating, bowling, watching movies, being outside, arts and crafts, listening to music, watching sports on his iPad with people, and socializing. Jeff has quadriplegia and has movement of his head and hand - which he uses to get himself around independently on a motorized wheelchair. Jeff also has an intellectual disability, which can make understanding Jeff a little difficult - but if you’re patient, you’ll quickly learn to understand him and will realize how amazing Jeff is!

Jeff is described as funny, calm, willing to do anything, and someone who loves being social. A friend should have experience working with people who have disabilities and the patience to let Jeff show them how fun he is.

This is currently a virtual opportunity with plans to meet in person when it is safe to return to meeting in person with groups again. Most MAGIC activities, when they do open up, will take place in Brookline, Boston, Newton. The friend matched with Jeff will meet him at the group events as he will be provided with a ride from a provider at this group home.
