Would you like to volunteer but don't have the free time to make a recurring commitment? Our upcoming Volunteer Day at the Heritage Farm on Saturday, May 1st from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm is the perfect way to get involved with only a three hour commitment! We need a small team of volunteers to help us scrape and paint areas that need some touching up on the historic buildings located on our Heritage Farm site behind the museum. Address: 214 Fredericksburg Avenue, Louisa, VA 23093. Please RSVP by April 23rd to louisahistory@verizon.net / 540-967-5975. Work will be outdoors and socially distanced. No supplies or prior experience needed. Volunteers will be provided with a picnic lunch to reward them for all their hard work! Rain date: Saturday, May 8th. All work will be outdoors and socially distant. Please dress appropriately for the outdoors and painting! Sunscreen and bug spray is recommended.

Louisa County Historical Society is a community-based organization whose mission is to bring Louisa County history to life! The LCHS accomplishes its mission by preserving and promoting the County’s historic documents and artifacts and recording and sharing the important and untold stories of past Louisans.

Description

The LCHS was established in 1966 and is a Section 501(c)3 charitable organization. The Society also operates the Sargeant Museum of Louisa County History and Heritage Farm located at 214 Fredericksburg Avenue in Louisa, Virginia. LCHS holds over 10,000 items its archives and 1,000 items in its collections and growing number of oral histories. The Purcell Research Library located in the Sargeant Museum contains numerous resources valuable to family researchers. LCHS hosts many educational programs and special events throughout the year and participates in community events and other outreach initiatives.
