New Directions For Women has been serving women, women who are pregnant and women with children who wish to enter recovery from substance use right here in our community for 44 years.
Each year we serve up to 200 women and countless children and babies, some who are born while their mom's are in treatment.
Often times women enter our residential treatment program, on or 4 acre campus near the back in Costa Mesa, in crisis. They've been unable to pack or have no hygiene items and toiletries. Upon admission, each women receives a welcome basket with their name on it and a welcome note or card.
This project will be hosted using COVID friendly guidelines at our administrative offices at 3001 Redhill - Building #4 - Suite 106, Costa Mesa from 9-11 a.m. Coffee and donuts will be served and volunteers will be able to view a video offering a virtual tour of our campus and stories from women like those they will be helping.
(If you are willing to donate your own supplies, this project can be done virtually in your own home or office and the baskets you create can be delivered that day or you can make an arrangement with Lori in our Foundation Office.)
Items that can be donated & included in the welcome basket:
* The Actual Baskets which are carrying totes * Cellophane bags or wrap for the baskets * Ribbons & Bows for the baskets * Loofah sponge or other shower items * Body Wash/Bubble bath * Nail Care items * NEW Travel or smaller sized toiletries (lotion, shampoo/conditioner) * Tea bags (decaffeinated!) * Mug or teacup * Journal or planner * Eye mask * Bottle of water * Chapsticks or lip balm * Hairties or headbands, bobby pins * Sugar free gum or mints * "To-go" Crystal light type packets for water * Pens, highlighters * Make Up Wipes * Small Cosmetic Bags * Hair Brush or Combs * Other such items

We promise this will be one of the most rewarding projects you can do this spring to help a mom, grandma, daughter or sister find healing, help and hope.
