Volunteering with Good Samaritan Hospice is tailored to each individual as best we can. Visits are made with your schedule. You have the right to say no or voice disinterest. Most of our volunteers are direct patient volunteers which are the ones who visit patients in homes or facilities. Our volunteers go to provide respite to allow the caregivers to run errands or our volunteers go to provide socialization with the patient. Some include talking, reading, or playing music/games, etc. with the patient.
We also have administrative volunteers which are the ones who help out in the office including filing, medical records, addressing envelopes for bereavement, creating admission packets, etc. Another category is special events volunteering. Volunteers provide crafting, games, pet therapy, dancing lessons, art therapy, etc to various facilities.
