Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
Training for all of our opportunities is done in house, so no prior experience is necessary, and knowledge of the military is not required. Our positions have flexible scheduling during the hours we are open but we are looking for committed volunteers who are available for at least one four hour shift per week. Shifts are from 8-12 or 12-4, we are only open during the weekdays. We are able to offer childcare and mileage reimbursements while you volunteer. The Client Services Assistant (CSA) is often the client's first impression of the Society. It is important that they portray Navy - Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) as a professional, friendly, and efficient organization. As a CSA you will have the opportunity to be a beacon of hope for a military family member.
Greet clients courteously
Manage incoming phone calls and answer general questions
Assist clients in determining paperwork needed for interviews
Check clients in for appointments.
Assist clients with Quick Assist Loans
Other duties as assigned by the CSA Lead or Senior CSA
Ability to learn NMCRS software and scheduling system
Ability to present a professional, friendly, and objective appearance to clients
Ability to distinguish time sensitive situations
Ability to remain welcoming in a fast-paced environment
Ability to listen and communicate
Desire to serve others with consistency, compassion, and a non-judgmental demeanor
