Join us for EARTH DAY to help clean and start the planting our SkyART's urban garden in South Chicago. About this Event

Spring has sprung and we are excited for this year's harvest! As we prepare seedlings and our new hoop house, we need your help! Join us Thursday, April 22, 1pm - 3pm to help clean up the garden area and center for EARTH DAY!

Also volunteers will be provided gloves, bags and gardening necessities. Social distancing and the mask mandate will be adhered to. Forecast is 59 degrees and sunshine!

About: SkyART provides a broad range of free visual art programming to young people through our Studio, School, and Community Programs. Our defining innovative approach, the SkyWAY, is a shift in perspective that blurs the lines of formal art education and centers on art-making as an inherently educational experience. Through the lens of art, SkyART focuses on creative youth development, constantly striving to make programs more relevant and more dynamic. You will not find its studio walls filled with identically constructed projects; you’ll find vibrant collaborative canvases, 12 feet wide, and full of color. You will not see "art students" following the directions of an "art teacher"; you’ll find an animated community of makers, working together to identify relevant pathways for each participant to follow, refining the group’s trajectory as they go to include all individual contributions to a shared collective vision

As a complement to the SkyART Studio Programs, the Family Table program reflects one of SkyART’s core values, Totality, a commitment we made to nourish the whole child. This Program includes providing our participants with home-cooked meals, teaching them how to make nutritious snacks in our Kitchen Studio, and showing them how to sow seeds and harvest organic food from our four-city lots Artist’s Garden.
