Friends of Johnson County Library supports library programs and services through the sale of books donated by the community. Seven volunteers are needed on Saturday, April 17th from Noon-2PM to help accept book donations at the Friends of Johnson County Library Sort Center. Volunteers must be able to lift boxes up to 40 lbs. on/off dolly carts, stand for long periods of time, and be comfortable going outside to assist with donation drop offs. Face masks are required. Comfortable closed-toed shoes and weather appropriate attire to be outside are strongly encouraged. Volunteers ages 14-17 are welcome but please get your parents permission before registering. Snacks and bottled water will be provided.
The purpose of the Johnson County Library is to provide access to information and promote life long learning and growth for all ages.
Volunteers are vital to the daily operation of all 13 of our locations across Johnson County.
You can volunteer in an ongoing position for 3-4 hours per week and a minimum 6 month committment or you can sign up to join us for one time events or book sales as your schedule allows - join us!
Our primary need includes materials management. Volunteers assist with pulling books that need to be transferred to other locations. In addition, they assist with sorting and shelving of materials. If you enjoy working with books, this is the job for you!
