Are you looking for a unique and enjoyable volunteer experience to help you engage with your local community? Well, you have come to the right place! The Stock Pile is always looking for new volunteers to help us at our store in a variety of different ways.

The Stock Pile is a 501c3 nonprofit building material reuse store located in Canton, OH. Our mission is to reduce waste and improve homes by offering reusable building materials and home improvement supplies at low cost to members of our community. Our organization accepts donations from local businesses and individuals of new and gently used building materials including cabinets, flooring, tile, lumber, siding, roofing, paints and stains, and hardware. We also accept furniture and home decor donations. These items are then sold back to members of our community at a deeply discounted rate so that everyone can afford to keep their homes safe, clean, and beautiful. Through our free membership, we offer discounts to veterans and active military, disabled, those 62 years or older, and low-to-moderate income households.

As a volunteer at The Stock Pile, you can assist us during store hours in a variety of different tasks including:

  • Help clean and move inventory
  • Organization of inventory
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Assist with office duties
  • Greet members and guests
  • Assist shoppers with product selections.

Mission Statement

Here at The Stock Pile, our mission is to reduce waste and improve homes, by offering reusable building materials and home improvement supplies at low cost to members of our community.

Description

The Stock Pile is a project of the Stark County Regional Planning Commission. It was started in 1998 with the support of the Solid Waste District and Community Development Block Grant Funds. At the time of creation, there were no other reuse stores in Stark County and substandard housing was a growing problem, which led to the Stock Pile's inception. The Stock Pile serves our community by making new and gently used reusable building materials like doors, windows, paint, lumber, and hardware available to the public at 1/3-1/2 the price of retail. The Stock Pile helps to improve sub-standard housing in North East Ohio and helps to reduce waste by saving reusable building materials from entering the waste stream and ending up in the landfill. We strive to empower homeowners to make their homes safer, more secure, better functioning, and more beautiful by giving them access to new and gently used affordable building materials. We are open to the public, but we also offer free membership with a 20% off discount. Our membership serves low-to-moderate income households, those 62 years of age or older, the disabled, and active or veteran military members of our community.
