The McLaren Hospice Program is a special kind of care designated to provide support and comfort for people in the final phase of a terminal illness. Our hospice team provides services to meet the physical, spiritual, psychological, social and emotional needs of each patient and their family. We strive to enable patient's to carry on a pain free life and to manage other symptoms so that the last days with family and friends may be spent with a much dignity and quality of life as possible.
McLaren Hospice is looking for dedicated individuals who would like to make a difference in the lives of patients that are being faced with advanced illness and supporting their pets through Pet Peace of Mind Program. Training is provided and no medical knowledge is necessary.
We are seeking volunteers who have experience with dogs and/or cats, perhaps with a rescue or similar organization. Volunteers would be asked to help with the care of hospice patient pets.
Services may include:
Dog walking
Pet waste clean-up
Playing fetch
Transporting pet to the vet office
Assist with re-homing after pet parent passes

Our skilled specialists provide care that addresses all aspects of a patient's illness as well as the patients physical, spiritual and emotional needs. From pain and symptom management to respite care for family members, the care we provide supports patient and family choices with respect, comfort and dignity. We address the patient's personal needs and symptoms to give them the greatest amount of independence possible. Our focus is improving the quality of life so that our patients an families can live their lives as fully as possible.
