Far Rockaway Volunteers needed to help older adults
Services Now for Adult Persons
Our agency runs a Friendly Visiting Program which matches adults over 60 years of age that are homebound and isolated with volunteers for about an hour a week to help lessen their social isolation. Covid 19 has had a huge impact on these members of our community. Those that may not have been so isolated now cannot socialize at all. Also due to Covid -19 restrictions, our volunteers are currently not allowed to have any physical in person contact with our clients. So Friendly phone calls are very important and hopefully a temporary fix to in person visiting that one day, will most likely resume.
If you are convenient to the Far Rockaway area and would be willing to call a homebound client once or twice a week and there is a chance you might be able to conduct some in person visits once the pandemic is over, please contact Suzanne at Imasnapvolunteer@gmail.com or answer this plea for volunteers. Our volunteers have such an impact on these distinguished and deserving members of our community.

We also provide coordination of case plans, advocacy and linkages to community resources to assist our clients and to prevent premature institutionalization
Description
Services Now for Adult Persons Volunteer program is two-fold.
1. We help active senior citizens find volunteer opportunities in the community.
2. We recruit any age volunteers to assist homebound and more frail senior citizens in their every day needs. From just having tea and chatting to shoveling snow, all volunteers are so welcome and so appreciated.
