Position Description:
The Mentor Coordinator (MC) is a key member of a leadership team that works together to support the mission and values of Global FC. The position is responsible for assisting the Director of Mentoring in overseeing the planning, implementation, supervision and evaluation of the Global FC Mentor program. This initiative is an opportunity for equipped volunteers to use their gifts of caring, listening and encouraging by assisting underserved youth as they navigate through life as New Americans. This stipend internship has a minimum commitment of one year at 20-25 hours a week with the opportunity for permanent employment. The ideal candidate has flexibility in their schedule to come out (unpaid) to occasional soccer practices or games to get to know the kids and volunteers we serve and build trust in the Global FC community.
Essential Functions:
- Understand, learn, and communicate the unique social and emotional challenges underserved youth face in America.
- Promote and maintain positive relationships between the program, key partners and families.
- Occasionally attend GFC Mentor trainings and read journals to keep abreast on current developments in the area of expertise. Be a conduit in bringing information to Global FC Director of Mentoring.
- Become familiar with all Mentor related standard operating procedures.
- Assist with mentor/mentee onboarding process.
- Assist with on-going mentor/mentee relationship, including management of mentee reporting such as logs and volunteer hours. Report weekly standings/issues to Mentoring Director.
- Assist with monthly engagement activities and ambassador of the month celebrations
- Weekly debriefing with Director of Mentoring
- Plan, coordinate, and execute community service projects. Every soccer team will complete one project per season and mentor/mentee matches complete them several times a year. These volunteer hours will need to be documented for mentors, players, and mentees.
- Work in coordination with the Director of Mentorship to onboard, equip, and supervise all mentors.

Description
Global FC was founded by first generation refugee, Mariya Goodbrake, and primarily serves first generation immigrant and refugee youth in the northeast neighborhoods of Kansas City, Missouri using soccer as our tool for transformation. We support youth with the tools to overcome obstacles to success by providing resources, opportunities, and relationships towards a brighter future. We accomplish this through our three areas of programming: Soccer, Education and Mentoring.
Our holistic approach harnesses the power of relationships to reduce youth violence and family conflict, strengthen communities, inspire academic success, promote health and wellness and to create mentorship chains.
