We are currently meeting virtually due to WA State COVID mandates. We will return to meeting in person once this is possible. We are looking for one or two people to take meeting minutes at our planning committee and for someone to do the same for our executive board.

We prefer the individual(s) live in or around Kent so they can still be involved once we start meeting in person again.

The person should be detailed oriented, have note taking skills, and be willing to listen to meeting recordings and compile organized meeting minutes. These would then be emailed to Executive Director of Kent International Festival for review.

The planning committee meets every other week from April to mid May then we meet weekly. Our meetings are usually on Mondays from 4 to 5:30pm.

Our executive board meets once a month on first Wednesday of the month at 5 pm

This is a volunteer position.

Mission Statement

Kent International Festival’s mission is to build a flourishing and inclusive community that fully embraces its diversity through celebrating its peoples’ cultural heritage by organizing an annual festival.

Description

The Kent International Festival is a celebration of the cultural diversity represented in the Kent community and South King County. We are a 501c3 nonprofit. With over 130 languages spoken in the Kent School District, our area is growing in its diverse populations. In response to this growing diversity, our planning committee of volunteers along with local organizations and businesses gather to celebrate our community's culture. The festival showcases the region’s ethnic dance, musical performances, spectacular native attire, cultural booths and delicious authentic cuisine. Our festival is held on one day every year on the first Saturday after Memorial Day weekend.
