Have you ever felt that you needed something other than the TV to occupy your time? You are not alone that is why many seniors in our communities are volunteering a few hours a week in the local elementary schools, preschools, head start, special needs units and after school programs.
Volunteers listen to young children, nurture literacy skills, play board games and puzzles with them, and help them with their class work all under the supervision of the teacher.
As a thank you for volunteering, senior volunters receive a small stipend/tax free income each month which does not affect social security, Mass Health, housing subsidies, food stamps and other government benefits.
"It's a win win situation. The children receive the love and attention they needs and the volunteers have the satisfaction of making a difference, "said one 80 year old volunteer.
Why not join the Foster Grandparent Program today and "Make a difference in a child's life"

Mission Statement
Coastline Elderly Services, Inc. provides programs, services, information, and resources to older adults and individuals with disabilities to help them remain at home and independent. We believe everyone has the right to resources that allow them to choose how they would like to receive care so they can continue living independently with dignity and respect. The majority of our programs are available to residents of Greater New Bedford and the surrounding towns of Acushnet, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Gosnold, Marion, Mattapoisett, and Rochester. Even if you don’t live in one of these towns, please still call us so we can direct you to the agency that covers your community. We encourage you to call our Information & Referral Department so we can learn more about you and your needs, and direct you to the right resources, either at Coastline or another community organization. Call us today 508-999-6400.
Description
Thank you for your interest in Getting Involved at Coastline! Although we receive money from the state and federal government, it is never enough to cover all of the expenses associated with providing these much-needed programs and services to thousands of community members.
We rely on grants from public and private organizations, as well as donations from generous individuals like you who understand the importance of the work we do and the lives we change
And although we employ over 115 staff members, we rely on dozens of dedicated volunteers who provide more in-depth outreach and assistance to the individuals we help. Please click on each program to learn more about their volunteer opportunities:
