The core function of the role is to identify and recruit new Africa Health Organisation (AHO) members. AHO is an international health agency providing health and social care in Africa and the Diaspora such as the UK. We are looking to recruit new members to increase our network. Our membership comes from diverse background and geographical areas. We are looking for Membership Recruitment Officers from Africa and Diaspora starting with the UK, USA, and Europe. In Africa, we are looking for Officers to recruit members from local authorities, business, NGOs, local organisations and individuals. In the UK and the Diaspora. We are looking for members from local authorities such as Public Health Directors from every County, Diversity Officers from every city and town, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) organisations and communities, other charities and voluntary organisations, NGOs, business and individuals interested in AHO mission.
Duties and Responsibilities
Recruit members for AHO in Africa and the Diaspora.
Design AHO Membership Package and Materials.
Identifying geographic areas and sectors providing opportunity for membership growth.
Leading creative new member recruitment campaigns.
Working closely with the CEO integrate recruitment plan with existing member retention efforts.
Working with the CEO create effective membership recruitment materials.
Creating a sales plan, including systematic follow-up with potential members.
Assisting members with questions about membership, joining, renewals, and benefits.
Representing and advocating the role of the charity to existing and prospective members.
Creating and updating the member database, in-house renewal processing, file update and maintenance and other tasks as assigned.
Assign codes to membership categories to make it easy to find during search.
Education, Skills and Experience
Three or more years in sales that involved in-person recruitment, cold calling and follow-up. Proven record of sales success required. Must excel at meeting and talking with prospective members, building rapport with prospective members, and closing sales in a professional manner.
Must be creative in developing new areas and methods for member recruitment and implement them.
Energetic, positive, professional, and self-motivated personality with effective oral and written communication skills required.
Experience within an association membership department specialising in sales and membership recruitment is a plus.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Strong skills in process management, database design and management, customer service and project management with ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Must have a good sense of humour and interest in advancing AHO mission
