Job Description: Reporting to the Programming Coordinator, programmers are trained by CI2’s cohort of experienced Programming Coordinators to develop various tools for cyber-crime investigation, national security, advance cyber research, and international cyber operations. CI2 is partnered with, and provides, actionable intelligence-gathering tools to support multiple federal, state, and local law enforcement entities as well as the United States Intelligence Community and U.S. military. Volunteer programmers will have opportunities to assist CI2’s Programming Division in developing tools to benefit joint agency operations and earn Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits. Upon successful completion of basic computer programming concepts and Python training, volunteer programmers will be assigned to CI2 SIGS Application Development Team and will receive advanced training opportunities.

All interested students and professionals with backgrounds and experiences in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Machine Learning, Digital Forensics, Cyber Security, and other related fields are eligible and considered. As part of the application process, applicants must agree to undergo a background check and education verification. Upon receiving an official offer letter, the applicant must agree and sign an Independent Contractor Agreement and a Confidentiality, Non-Use, and Non-Disclosure Agreement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Program Research - collect information on the modules, programming concepts, classes, fields, and functions that will be used to develop the program.
  • Program Development- apply the collected research by developing the program using Python on any given programming environment.
  • Program Testing - execute the developed program through the environment’s built-in terminal or the computer operating system’s command terminal.

Skills and Qualifications: Python, C++, DevOps, C#, Agile experience required. Associates degree, although bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or information systems is preferred. Programmers who work in fields such as health care, can earn certifications or take classes to supplement education. They can also get certified to work on specific programming languages that CI2 uses.
