Young Women Alliance Group Leader Job Description

Position: Group Leader

Reports to: Nikki Klein

Delegates to: Group Assistant

As Group Leader you will support, engage, and offer resources to no more than 10 young Alliance members, ages 13 to 18, per weekly telecommunication meeting. The intention of each meeting is to support each others’ struggles and successes with an understanding ear. At least 50% of each meeting's capacity is intended for those who have been marginalized and are in higher need of guidance, support, community, and/or role models. This 50% will include but not be limited to foster kids, children of immigrants, emancipated youth, at-risk youth, low-socioeconomic youth, and/or minority youth.

In most instances, Group Leaders become very important role models and have significant influence in the lives of young people. As a Group Leader, you should welcome and encourage Alliance members to become more involved in the Anaheim Youtopia Ecosystem to help them gain more confidence, support, sense of community, life skills, and job experience.

• Mediate weekly support group meetings via telecommunication.

• Serve as a friend, a good listener, and a resource for Young Women Alliance and Relapse Prevention members.

• Prepare topics of discussion and any other supplementary plans for meetings.
• Locate, compile, and collaborate to advertise resources for Young Women and Relapse Prevention.

• Make a minimum one-year commitment to the organization and Alliance members.

• Register, and provide evidence of completion, for at least one young women development or youth relapse prevention course per year served.

• Be who you needed when you were younger.
• You are a friend, role model, mentor, and consistent companion to youth who may not have anyone.
• Remember that Alliance members may look up to so act accordingly.
• Anaheim Youtopia’s intention with the Alliance Support Groups is to provide a safe space where members can feel seen and heard for who they are not who external forces wish them to be.
• Group Leaders may not give their Alliance members money or expensive gifts.
• Group Leaders may not engage in dangerous activities with their Alliance members.
