Life Hacks 101 Group Assistant Volunteer Description

"You'll be bothered from time to time by storms, fog, snow. When you are, think of those who went through it before you, and say to yourself, 'What they could do, I can do.’" - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Position: Group Assistant

Reports to: Group Leader

Delegates to: N/A

Position Description

As an Anaheim Youtopia Group Assistant you will help support, engage, and offer resources to no more than 10 young Life Hacks 101 members, ages 13 to 18, per weekly telecommunication meeting. The intention of the Life Hacks 101 program is to educate about the various "things we wish we knew when we were younger" and to create bonds by discussing such things. Topics may include: basic anatomy, sex ed, asking for help, budgeting, time management, breaking cycle, and meditation. There is one major project that will be worked on little by little weekly and presented at the end of the program length (six weeks).

At least 50% of each meeting's capacity is intended for those who have been marginalized and are in higher need of guidance, support, community, and/or role models. This 50% will include but not be limited to foster kids, second generation citizens, emancipated youth, at-risk youth, low-socioeconomic youth, and/or minority youth.

In most instances, Group Leaders and Assistants become very important role models and have significant influence in the lives of young people. As a Group Assistant, you should welcome and encourage Life Hacks 101 members to become more involved in the Anaheim Youtopia ecosystem to help them gain more confidence, support, sense of community, life skills, and job experience.
