Life Hacks 101 Group Leader Job Description

"There is no sun without shadow, and it is essential to know the night." - Albert Camus

Position: Group Leader

Reports to: Nikki Klein

Delegates to: Group Assistant

Position Description

As the Life Hacks 101 Group Leader, you will be responsible for creating and utilizing lesson plans that will educate on various life skills that are of interest to the members. Each week you will create and deliver a survey that includes three "life hacks" for your group to vote on. The one with the most votes will be the weekly topic. You will release that topic early on in a non-formal way including a suggestion for any members with tips or experience to come prepared to share with the rest of the group during the meeting. You will also host discussions on each topic explored.

In addition to the above, there is a program long (6 weeks) project that will be presented in the final week. During the initial 5 weeks there will be an assignment for each week and an allotted amount of time during each meeting to touch base on each member's project. The project is a sort of life plan.

At least 50% of each meeting's capacity is intended for those who have been marginalized and are in higher need of guidance, support, community, and/or role models. This 50% will include but not be limited to foster kids, children of immigrants, emancipated youth, at-risk youth, low-socioeconomic youth, and/or minority youth. In most instances, Group Leaders become very important role models and have significant influence in the lives of young people. As a Group Leader, you should welcome and encourage members to become more involved in the Anaheim Youtopia Ecosystem to help them gain more confidence, support, sense of community, life skills, and job experience.
