Volunteers Care For Young Trees

Join us in taking care of the Adaptive Silviculture for Climate Change study plots at Crosby Farm Regional Park. This is a great opportunity to engage in climate change adaptation work and to explore a beautiful floodplain forest ecosystem. Frequent activities include re-installing gates and fencing to help protect the research trees from herbivory, and plant maintenance to ensure access to the plots. The work generally requires bending down to reach parts of the gates or fencing, using tools like post pounders and wrenches, bending or kneeling to remove plants. We’ll also walk for about 20 minutes from the parking lot to the plots on a paved path and spend much of the event standing and walking in uneven terrain. No prior experience is required!
